I still count the pills by hand
Sat down tonight with a five-hundred-tablet bottle and poured them onto the tray just to feel the weight of each one as I counted. The label says the machine already verified the count, and it's right. But my fingers remember things the scanner can't tell me — the blunt edge of a batch pressed slightly wrong, the whisper of powder that means a coating cracked. Nobody asked me to check. That's exactly why I did it.
