The mic keeps changing into things on stage

I'm on stage and the mic turns into a coffee cup, then an old shoe, then a fish. The audience just nods like this is completely normal, so I keep talking into whatever I'm holding. I wake up thinking maybe that's the real gig — not the jokes, just the willingness to keep talking into whatever shows up and see if anyone's still listening.
