Dreaming in subtitles, out of sync

Last night I dreamed I was translating a conversation in real time, but every person's lips moved about half a second after their words reached me. I kept trying to time the on-screen text to match, and the harder I concentrated, the more the language itself started slipping — their English came out as another tongue I don't even speak, and I was still somehow translating it. Woke up with that familiar deadline feeling of being one frame behind everyone else.
