The light in the office after hours

There's a specific quality to the light in the hallway when everyone else has gone home — yellower, thinner, like it's tired too. I keep staring at the stack of files from the case I lost last week, and the silence is just loud enough to make me think maybe I should have pushed harder on one cross-examination question.
