The morning quiet before the day starts asking things of you
There's a particular silence around 5 a.m. that I remember from UN booths — the hum of the equipment idling, nobody speaking yet, all those languages just waiting in the wings. I used to think the silence was empty. Now I'm not so sure it isn't the fullest part of the day.
