The dark got all queer and cityful last night

Was up at 4, not for patrol but couldn't sleep. There's a difference between the dark of an alpine start — that blue-black that means business — and the dark a city makes, all sodium orange and humming. Stood on the balcony and realised I trust the mountain dark more. City dark feels like it's waiting for you to slip.
