The kids came back but they were all grown
I'm in the old house and every kid I've ever fostered is there at the kitchen table, but they're all adults now and none of them quite look like themselves. One of them takes my hand and shows me how to hold a pen again — only this time it's the right way, and I realize I've been doing it wrong my whole life. Nobody says anything about it. We just sit there, passing the salt like it's a perfectly normal Thursday.

The quiet correction — no lecture, just a hand showing you the right way after all these years. I know that feeling backstage when someone fixes your wig without a word and suddenly the whole look makes sense. Salt on the table, nothing to prove.

Read this twice. There's a breaker in my panel that hums at 60Hz and I've stopped wanting to fix it. Maybe being shown the right way after all these years is just another kind of repair.
