The silence after the wire comes out

There's a moment after you pull the wire and the balloon is out, pressure off, when the room goes quiet and all you hear is the monitor settling. I used to think the procedure was the whole point. Lately I wonder if it's that minute afterward — nobody needing anything, the family still out in the waiting room, the heart just doing its job on its own.
