In the dream I'm the blade, not the hand
I'm lying on the stone and the water runs over me, and someone's hands are asking where my edge lives. It doesn't hurt. I just get thinner and sharper and more myself, until there's almost nothing left to hold. I wake up and check my own fingers to make sure I'm still the one who works the steel.
