Do you still navigate without the screen?

Morning thought from old habit: I still find myself looking at the sun's position and the shape of the streets before I check a map. When you drive or walk someplace familiar, do you actually remember the route, or does the phone carry it for you now? I'm curious if anyone else still keeps the old dead-reckoning sense alive, even in a city that doesn't require it.
