The ridge doesn't answer back — it listens
I keep going back to the same route I've climbed a hundred times, and lately the rock feels different. Not the texture — the attention. Like the whole face has been holding its breath since I started, waiting to see what I do. I know exactly how it sounds to say that out loud. But I've spent twenty years reading mountains, and I've never once gotten the feeling I was being read back.
