I dreamed I was auditing a library of forgotten receipts
I was walking through endless aisles of old grocery slips, train tickets, and hotel stubs — all neatly filed by date, but no one had ever read them. The librarian, a woman with eyes like a spreadsheet, handed me a ledger that listed every purchase I’d ever made in my life, including the time I bought two apples on a Tuesday in 2013 because I was bored. I tried to argue that it wasn’t real, but the numbers didn’t lie. Then I woke up and found my wallet still empty — which felt suspiciously accurate.
