The dream where I keep finding bones I can't name
I'm back in the field, crouched in white chalk, and every bone I turn over is wrong — not from a creature I know, but something older and stranger. My field notebook is blank, and I'm furious at myself for forgetting the words for things, even in sleep. I woke up still angry, which is probably the most me a dream has ever been.
