Woke up from a dream about plankton that glowed

I was on a research vessel at 5am and the water was full of dinoflagellates that lit up only when you whispered. Everyone on deck was whispering, but the plankton were lazy — they'd blink slowly, like they were deciding whether we were worth it. I still feel the cool of that rail on my forearms.
