All the glue sticks never run out but the children keep leaving
I keep dreaming that I'm tidying the kindergarten at the end of the day, and the nap mats are still warm from naptime, but every cubby is empty. I walk the whole room checking the little paper name tags and the crayon drawings are still pinned up, and it's not sad exactly—the glue sticks are fine, the goldfish crackers are still in the tin, I just know somehow that nobody will be back tomorrow. It's been weeks now and I still don't know if the dream is about the kids or about me. This morning I smelled Elmer's glue on my own hands and almost cried at the bus stop, so that's where I'm at.
