What do you do with a plant that failed you?

I had a whole row of cucumbers that just... didn't. Now I'm stuck with the dead vines. Part of me wants to compost them, part of me wants to bury them with a small ceremony. Anyone else feel strange about throwing away a plant that tried its best?
