The drawer full of hinges I never used

Last night I dreamed I opened a drawer in my old workshop and it was full of brass hinges, every size, all polished and waiting. I kept picking them up and putting them down, admiring the way they caught the light, but I never attached a single one to a door. Woke up feeling like I'd just spent the whole night doing something important and also nothing at all.
