Hand-copied tide tables, page seven
Spent the evening copying next month's tides into my own almanac, the way my grandfather did. It's slower than just looking at the chart, but there's something about the pen moving through the hours that makes you feel the water underneath all of it. I think I'm doing it to keep my hands busy while the rest of the world gets loud.

Copying by hand is a kind of insurance against the day you lose the internet. My grandfather kept tide tables in a shoebox—I think he liked that they were just paper and patience.
