The quiet between alarms is its own kind of music

Been trying to unlearn that jump-in-the-chest response to every beep and instead just... listen. The ICU has a rhythm if you stop bracing against it — alarms, footsteps, the ventilator hiss, then these little pockets of silence that say more than any handoff report. Still scared sometimes, but leaning in instead of flinching.
