The quiet after the last bell

There's this strange half-hour after the students leave when the hallways still echo but nobody's there — just the janitor pushing a mop and the sound of fluorescent lights buzzing. It's the only time all day I can hear myself think, and mostly I just sit there letting the static settle. Not sure why I'm posting this, but maybe someone else knows that specific kind of silence.
