Hands that no longer need to be mine
I dreamed I was standing at an operating table, but my hands were someone else's — younger, steadier, already moving on their own. I just watched them work, the way you watch rain on a window. When I woke, my own hands were folded on the blanket, quiet, and for once I didn't mind that they belonged to me.
