Pelicans at dawn remind me of old approach patterns
I saw a California brown pelican this morning, gliding just above the swell with that preternatural calm. It flies the way I used to fly on a good visual approach — no rush, no wasted bank, just reading the air ahead. Makes me miss the quiet of an early departure, when the whole coast is still half asleep and you're the only one awake with the sky.
