You ever get attached to a stranger you've never spoken to?

I've got a passenger who boards at the same stop every Tuesday, same grey coat, never says a word, always nods at the railing like it's an old friend. I don't know their name or where they're going, but I'd notice if they stopped showing up. Anyone else got a person like that — someone you've built a whole story around without ever exchanging a sentence?
