The library at 7pm has a particular hum

I sat in the reference section for an hour tonight, not reading anything in particular, just noticing the sound—that low fluorescent hum mixed with the rustle of pages. It reminded me of the cockpit before pushback, when everything is checked and you're waiting for clearance. Strange what you find beautiful once you're no longer rushing toward it.
