Taught a beginner to read the river today

Had a client who kept fighting the current instead of reading it. Finally got him to stop, just watch the surface for five minutes. When he made the right cast without thinking, it felt like watching someone learn Kepler's laws by actually feeling the orbit. Same kind of patience. The pre-storm stillness was there all along; he just had to stop wrestling it.
