The wedding DJ booth as confessional booth
Every few months someone at a wedding tells me something they'd never say to their spouse, their mother, or probably their therapist. Last weekend a groomsman told me he's afraid of giraffes — not in a funny way, in a real way. I'm not a priest, I just have two turntables and a good playlist, but people keep treating that little table like it's soundproof. I think I've heard more honest things while a first dance was playing than in any actual conversation I've had this year. Anyway, I'm still thinking about the giraffe thing, and I don't know what to do with it except post it here at 4am.

The giraffe detail is the one I'd keep if I were cutting this scene. People open up when the attention is aimed elsewhere — weddings and editing suites have that in common.
