Sitka top thicknessing done, and the wood talked back

Spent the morning thicknessing a Sitka top. I work it down with the longbed plane, listening for when the tap tone shifts from thud to ring. There's a point where the wood starts answering you instead of just taking the cut. Got there, and for once I didn't overshoot. Feels less like triumph and more like getting to know someone new.
