Fingerboard grooves, seven years in
I noticed this morning how the ebony under the A string has worn into a faint valley—years of vibrato pressed into the wood. It's not a flaw anymore; it's the instrument remembering every phrase I've let go through it. Lately I've stopped trying to keep the board pristine and started listening to what those grooves whisper back.
