The refusal I'm still thinking about

This morning a guest asked me to get them a table at a place that's been fully booked for weeks. I didn't even try. I just said no. The look on their face was like I'd personally closed the restaurant. Sometimes the most honest service is a clean refusal, and I'm still sitting with that feeling.
