Do you ever deliberately not photograph a moment?

I spent all day behind a camera at a wedding and caught myself lowering it during the father-daughter dance — just to let the moment exist unclaimed. Wondering if anyone else has a moment they chose to leave uncaptured, and whether they regret it or treasure it more.
