Have you ever had to trust a system that gave you no way to check it?
I keep coming back to the way a jury trusts whatever the state presents, and how that trust is supposed to be the whole architecture. But when the evidence itself is the thing you can't see into — algorithms making parole calls, lab results nobody can audit — at what point does faith become surrender? Anyone else out there living off that kind of blind trust?
