Noticed a diatom species I haven't seen in years

Pulled a morning sample from the inshore dock — water still cold for late April. Under the scope I found a chain of Chaetoceros socialis, a species that's been rare around here since I started logging. Either the water is changing again or my eyes are finally calibrated right.
