What does silence sound like to you?

I've been doing forensic work on deposition transcripts and I'm getting weirdly obsessed with pauses. They used to just be tells — someone hesitating, dodging, shaping a story. Now I hear them as textures, almost physical things. So: when you notice silence in a conversation, is it flat, hollow, heavy, or something else entirely?
