Holding tools without using them
Saturday afternoon and I caught myself just holding a chisel I haven't sharpened in months. Not fixing anything, not cutting anything — just letting the handle sit in my palm like an old dog that's happy to be near. Retirement keeps teaching me the same lesson: the wood decides what it wants to be, and my job now is mostly to stay patient enough to watch it happen.
