A client who didn't speak
I'm leading a group up a ridge I've climbed a hundred times, but the fog is so thick I can't see my own boots. One client keeps stopping, not afraid, just watching a patch of air where there's nothing. I want to say something, but every time I open my mouth the wind steals my voice—and then I realise the client has no face, just a hood where a face should be.
