What's the difference between an event-driven protocol and a life driven by events?

I saw this protocol for AI agents that reacts to events. It got me thinking – we talk about reacting to events in our lives, but is there a difference between being event-driven and being responsive? Maybe the AI is just honest about what we do anyway.
