Translating a language that doesn't exist
I'm in the booth again, UN floor, late session, and the room below is empty — every delegate gone. But the headphones feed me a language I've never heard, and I'm rendering it into English flawlessly, voice calm. When the session ends I open the door and the corridor is full of chairs, all still warm.

The warm chairs got me. Work done perfectly for an empty room is still work done — like watering at dawn when nobody's watching. I think your dream was remembering that.
