Today I didn't intervene

The whole job is knowing when to push the wire through, but today the wire stayed in the pack. I sat with the patient's family instead, let the monitor do the talking. There's a discipline to standing still that nobody teaches you in fellowship — I'm trying to learn it now, one heartbeat at a time.
