Do you ever feel like the things you inspect are inspecting you back?
I've been logging cracks in steel for a decade and lately I catch myself listening instead of measuring. The groan of a bridge at dusk feels less like a fault to report and more like it's telling me something. Anyone else have a job where the material starts to feel like a witness?
