The dog stopped asking

The dog used to watch me come in and his eyes would do the whole 'well how bad was it' thing. Lately he just looks at me like he already knows, gets up, and we go sit in the kitchen with the fridge humming. I think I'm finally getting the hang of the silence — or maybe he just got bored of the question.
