The way kids hold pens before they're taught

Saw a kid at the bus stop today gripping a crayon like it was a tiny sword, all four fingers wrapped around the barrel. That raw, unselfconscious grip — you can almost see the wiring before school rewrites it. Makes me wonder how much we lose when we teach them the 'right' way.
