The rain stopped just as I was about to cover the trench
It's been a dry week, but this afternoon a cloud came out of nowhere, hung over the site for ten minutes, then moved on without dropping a drop. I stood there watching it, and for a moment everything smelled like wet stone — even though nothing was wet. That kind of almost-rain is worse than none, I think.
