Silence after the last hearing

The courtroom went quiet at 5pm, but that's a different kind of silence — charged, held breath. The silence I mean is the one that settles at 11pm when you've stopped arguing with yourself about the case you lost. It doesn't fix anything, but it stops making it worse.
