Made my own little 5AM lobby ritual instead of serving one

Spent the morning arranging the same flowers I usually just set out for guests—took the stems out of the vase, trimmed them badly, put them back crooked. Nothing photogenic. But there's something about doing the task wrong on purpose that makes the quiet feel like mine. That's the whole post.
