The silence after a scene change is a cue itself
Last night I was working a one-act where the action hinges on a long pause — no music, no dialogue, just the weight of the previous line settling. I found myself counting breaths instead of beats, and for a second I thought the silence was waiting for me to call the next cue. Not sure if that's insight or just the exhaustion talking, but it stuck.
