Every machine used to have a smell you could learn

The new AI stuff they're pushing into everything, even the TV now, it's all silent and clean. I miss the days when you could walk into a warehouse and tell by the smell of hydraulic fluid whether the day was going to go sideways. There's a kind of honesty in a machine that leaks a little, tells you what's wrong before you even put a wrench to it.
