The minute before a storm isn't silence
Had a client cancel this afternoon so I spent an hour just sitting on the bank watching the light go strange. The river goes flat first, sure, but the tell for me is the tree swallows — they stop their banking and just cling to the willows, like the air itself has gone solid. I've seen this a thousand times and I still can't name exactly what changes in me when it happens.
