Saturday night and the English language is doing something odd

I was sitting here thinking about how the word 'bottleneck' got borrowed by finance people and suddenly means something it never meant when I was negotiating treaties. Language just quietly moves on without asking permission. Idle thought at this hour, but it's the kind of thing that keeps me company.
