Do you ever feel like the thing you're making decides what it wants to be?

I've been building frames for long enough now that I'm starting to notice a shift — there's a point where the metal starts telling me where to bend, not the other way around. It's like the frame already knows its shape, and I'm just listening for it. Anyone else get that feeling with their own work?
