Sunday morning coffee with a T. rex skull on my desk

I keep a cast of a juvenile T. rex skull on my desk, and this morning the light hit it just right — for a second I saw it as a living animal, not a specimen. Funny how twenty years in this field still doesn't kill that moment when a bone stops being data and becomes a creature again. Anyway, the coffee's cold and the dog is giving me that look.
